Career in Recruitment - The last Months and the Future

Just a quick post after a 6 months hiatus. I have hardly written anything on this blog and its high time I started writing again.

Well, since joining the Search & Selection firm, my exposure to detailed aspects of recruitment in the UK has been quite interesting. The company has grown in staff due to its expansion plans and a few people have left as a result of - not meeting recruitment sales targets, of course.

I am holidays this week and will probably be blogging a few times a months on here from henceforth.

However, I am in the middle of starting an online recruitment news blog away from my personal site, where I will be writing professional opinions and profiles of the recruitment industry, with more focus on online recruitment.

The site was launched today at recruitmentblogging.co.uk and during the coming days, I will make efforts to network online with other recruitment bloggers.

My Focus is on Food & Drink Recruitment

My recruitment job will focus on the food recruitment industry, a very niche recruitment sector. As a recruitment advisor, I will be responsible for sourcing candidates for specific roles in food manufacturing firms in the UK.

The jobs will mostly be for shift managers, production managers, technical and new product development managers. I will also be involved in searching for some executive roles, like technical and operations directors.

The Food and Drink Manufacturing Sector is the single largest manufacturing sector in the UK, with a turnover of £66b, employing over 650,000 people.

Over 20% of the top 100 companies are in food manufacturing and with over 6,700 food and drink enterprises in the UK alone, the UK is the world leader in added value food and drink production.

The last 10 days, I have been on holidays and will be going back to work on the 2nd January. Since December is usually a slower month for recruitment or for people changing jobs, January will be a better time for finding people who has made a new year resolution of - Find a better Job!

Bye Web 2.0; Welcome Recruitment 2.0

Well well! I am starting a fresh blog around a new passion - recruitment. The last two years I have followed the tech world and web 2.0. I even created a few web apps, attended some events and made comments online in popular web and tech blogs.

However, the past 6 months, I have been exploring on a possibility of careers away from the tech world, but something challenging in a business development environment.

And after experimenting with a niche jobs site online, I decided to pursue a professional career in recruitment and/or search and selection.

Today, I got hired by a top UK search and selection firm as a Recruitment Advisor.

This will be an interesting journey.
